Is Sport Your Thing?

Is Sport Your Thing? If it is, and you applaud the concept of learning English through sport, then this latest summer school post with Exsportise may appeal. Exportise was established 20 years ago by sportsman and professional coach, Bram van Asselt and every summer they run English sport camps where overseas students not only learn the language through sports coaching, they also practise their favourite sport/s with English native speakers.

The post in question is that of Director of Studies/Senior Teacher to lead their EFL programme at their residential sports camps at Oundle Boarding school near Peterborough. They offer basketball, dance, soccer, horse riding and tennis and the facilities include hard courts, artificial grass courts, two sports halls, indoor pool, soccer pitches and a dance studio, with  horse riding stables close by. Staff are resident on site 24 hours a day with staff to student ratios of at least 1:5. Accommodation is comfortable and the food is healthy, with a vegetarian option. The teachers normally teach mornings and afternoons according to a syllabus that was designed by Exsportise EFL experts but which leaves enough freedom for them to be creative and responsive to their students' wishes.

Candidates for the DOS/Senior Teacher post should be Diploma-qualified; possess a degree and have 5 years proven experience of teaching and delivering EFL programmes. While a sporty background or an affinity with sports is desirable, it is not necessary. Salaries begin at £500 per week, including full board and lodging. Other benefits include free use of the sports facilities and swimming pool and an extremely well-stocked library. For full details and applications see here.
